I enjoy good food, wine, and the opportunity
to study cuisines of other cultures, peoples, and lands.
Ancient Jewish tradition espoused the fact that friends should enjoy
one another and break bread together. It is my belief that no
matter how simple the meal, it is a time for sharing and coming
together. I have dedicated this site to collecting recipes and
stories that reflect culinary diversity, adventure, and fun.
Please enjoy and God bless.

This site has a unique name, "Frian' Friar",
and you might ask "where did the
name come from?" Well, the South has a culture of it's own,
down-home, flavorful, and downright good! One of the special
foods served here is deep fried turkey with all the "trimming's".
So, considering that I am an
uprooted northerner in the South, who aspires to learn Southern
cultural cuisines, I decided to meld my Franciscanism with a "hint"
of the local color. That it, in a few words, the genesis of
the site name.
Let me know how you like the site and I will
endeavor to add all of your stories, recipes, pictures, and
anecdotes to the site.
